In his own words

I am a businessman. I own a small house painting company and I love the sport. I am still old school about fishing and am truly humbled by being able to compete at the caliber of guys that I am fishing against. It’s going to be fun to be out there and promote APEX, get it off the ground and make it roll.

Behind the Angler

Marty’s dad and uncles were the first to take him fishing. At the age of 14, Marty ventured into tournament fishing. He had a boat, but wasn’t old enough to drive, so he would have to convince others to take him. He moved on to teams and Pro/Am’s in the ‘80s. After a hiatus from 1991 to 2009, he returned to the sport, fishing local circuits. Seeing his was still feeling the competitive bug, he set goals to fish professionally, compete on the FLW Tour and qualify for the Forrest Wood Cup. He accomplished two of his three goals. The Cup was discontinued before he met that last one; but his competitive nature drives him towards the next big championship.

In the Boat

Crankbaits and jigs top the list for Marty’s presentations. His boat is full of Duo Realis crankbaits and a lot of other custom lures, made by a friend. His lockers are stocked with the Champion and Champion Extreme Series from Dobyns Rods and Bass Pro shop’s Johnny Morris Platinum Signature and Pro Qualifier reels.
