Vince Hurtado

Turlock, CA

In his own words

I am a student of the game and a huge advocate for the
sport. Every opportunity that I have, I want to educate and involve youth in the sport. Fishing the first season of APEX reminds me of qualifying for the inaugural season of the B.A.S.S. Elite Series. It is a new foundation and platform for the West. It is a way for western anglers to take advantage of the media that is available and to fish “locally” and compete at the highest level without having to go East. I want to keep my family close and fishing here allows them to enjoy the sport with me and travel with me to the Pro/Am’s

2-time B.A.S.S. Elite Series qualifier

Behind the Angler

Vince’s father started him bank fishing. Soon after, they moved to a boat. A friend’s success as a tournament angler, gave Vince the push into his first venture into competitive bass fishing, at the age of 20.

In the Boat

Flipping and punching mats with his Fitzgerald Titan Series rods are
Vince’s preferred presentation. His rigs include 80-pound P-line braided line, and any type of creature bait. He consistently carries a plethora of squarebill cranks from Lucky Craft, Duo Realis APEX and other custom-painted versions, a variety of spinnerbaits and Missile Baits D-Bombs and Destroyers.
